Robert E. Lee, MD is a medical officer from the Vascular and Endovascular Devices Team in the Office of Cardiovascular Devices, Center for Devices & Radiologic Health, US Food and Drug Administration in Silver Spring , Maryland. The Vascular and Endovascular Devices Team (VEDT) provides oversite for those products used in open vascular surgical and in endovascular aortic procedures.

The devices used to create AV access and to manage dysfunctional vascular access in hemodialysis patients also fall under the purview of VEDT. Dr. Lee attended medical school at the University of Michigan before completing his general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Prior to joining the FDA in 2015, he practiced vascular and endovascular surgery in southeast Michigan in both academic and private practice settings, where providing vascular access for hemodialysis was a significant component of his clinical activity.
